It’s been ages since I posted a recipe on the Gathering Manna site – besides my grandmother’s goulash. I guess I would have to admit that not only have I been too busy, but I haven’t made anything to eat that just screams “AWESOME” in a while…. unless you count the breakfast tacos we LIVE on around here. If there were one food on the planet, I would want it to be breakfast tacos. Bacon, egg and cheese, please!
Tonight, I’m up late after tucking daddy in with a sinus infection, kissing the kids goodnight (who played their new Star Wars Lego game for most of the evening), and reading lots of other blogger’s posts. I needed to escape reality after the mail came today, and we opened up our new mortgage coupon book… to find a house payment increase of over 1,000 dollars. Is that legal? Anyway – we have really started to boogie on the realtor’s to-do list… because – come September 1st, if we haven’t sold the house, the bank is going to be transferring our equity into their name! So, I’ve been painting light fixtures, checking out paint samples, buying house plants, and making plans to meet with friends to sew up some curtains.
I thought I would share with you some of the highlights of my surfing tonight. I’ll list them by category…

WHOA! $1000/mo. jump! That’s horrendous! How on earth did that happen? Are property taxes sky high where you are? Or did your interest sky rocket? I can’t imagine. I remember in our old house our payment went up $100 one year and I about flipped. I can’t imagine how scary that is. I’ll pray that you sell your home quickly.

I, too, would be interested to hear why such a jump?
As for legalities — it depends on why and your localities’ laws.

Sorry for the delay, gals… I’ve been recouperating from paint exhaustion. I was on my feet from 8am through 7pm today. (after the five solid hours I put in yesterday). Very tired.
As for the house… we bought it last year, and it was a new home (previous owners foreclosed after only 3 months, and it was owned by a bank). Apparently, the appraisal had not been done to include the house on the land… even though they almost had a year and a half before we bought it. The title company neglected to calculate the house into the escrow for the taxes also… thus our taxes were only about 1/8th of the total amount, and at the end of the year, we owed 4K for last year, and they estimate another 5K for this year.
So, with a 9K shortage, they somehow managed to make a thosand dollar a month increase, although I am yet to understand how that adds up? I guess they are charging us interest? I have no idea.
I called them today, and they told me to call my taxing authorities and get a new estimate with a homestead exemption included and it may go down some for us, and they might work with us on a 32 month payback to lower the price some… but I really am not sure if they will get it low enough for us. We are already having trouble since the cost of commuting for my husband each week (living expenses in another city) has really killed our pocketbook.
I appreciate any prayers you send up to the throne room on our behalf. I am trusting that God is going to be merciful – as I know He loves us. But, like Job, I will say in this time of darkness: “The Lord blesses, and the Lord takes away… blessed be the name of the Lord.”
Whatever He choses to do in this situation, whether it be to change US or change the circumstance or BOTH – I know it is whatever is for our good.
Romans 8:28 – All things work together for good to those who love the Lord and are called according to His purpose.
Thanks again for your comments and prayers!!!
