Meet the Teefie People. Yes, before kids my husband and I were a riot. [Those photos were his idea, by the way.] We still have a lot of fun – even in our semi-old-age. I can’t believe that he’s almost f-f-f-forty! [There, I said it.] One of the best parts of our friendship (with benefits) is the way we laugh together. Laughter makes the heart merry! A smile makes a face lovely. Love and laughter just go well together.
We started dating when I was 19 and he was 21. Young whipper-snappers. Silly kids. We got married eight short months later… and it is all history from there.
It has been 17 years since we met. 16 since we got married. All the ups and downs, stitched together by tears and smiles… has been sweet poetry of the heart.
So far we’re still in love. And we aren’t going anywhere – because both of us know that we are God’s punishment to each other. [Joking of course.] If I have to be someone’s punishment, I’m sure glad I’m his.
SisterLisa interviewed me for Apples of Gold and asked me to tell ‘our story’. Stop by and read it!

We were married when I was 19 and my husband was about to turn 20. I don’t know if anyone thought it would last or not. We have also been married for 16 years, have two kids, homeschool and are best friends! I don’t see this anywhere around me. The marriages I see are full of contention and sarcasm and a sense of being “stuck” with someone. I love your story! I love U2!!! I was a little jealous of that part of your story! 🙂

Oh my goodness I remember you showing me those pics when I was…not yet into the double digits. In your little car. In MM and PP’s driveway.
And I laughed then, and I laughed now. It’s good to laugh and be silly together. 🙂

I think that’s GREAT! I love hearing about couples who are still in love and laughing together. I think that’s a HUGE key – laughing together, staying friends. I was 21, my sweetie was 22 (yes, I call him Sweetie) when we got married, and we’ve been married for 11 years. Still very much in love, and we love to laugh, too! Thanks for sharing some fun today!
(I found you through the BlogHer Ads headlines today! I’m a pastor’s wife with 3 kiddos…)
It’s OK to be WEIRD!

What a sweet story about how you and the hubby are still in love after all these years. We got married when I was 19 and the hubster was 18 (two days after he graduated high school!!) Soooo many people told us we had no idea what we were getting ourselves into, admittedly they had a point and people said we would never last. Here we are 12.5 years years and still loving each other more every day. It seems like everytime we turn around, someone else is getting a divorce. It was so refreshing to hear you talk about still being together and not talking like marriage is the worst thing ever. Here’s to many more years of marital bliss!!!
