Something brand new. The gift of renewal and life. I can’t look at this face without thinking of my creator.
What a cutie, hu? Nearly three weeks old… his whole life ahead of him. I got to hold this sweetheart last night on New Years Eve. It was good practice in preparation for our baby due in March of 2009. And you know how we women have to swap birth stories so we can scare each other to death. Lots of that going on, too.
New babies make me think of the new year. A clean start. A fresh new life springing from the dark cold winter. Hope rising like tender shoots in snow.
My hope for all of us in 2009 is a closer walk with Him.
Here are a few new year quotes to start off your year with…
Drop the last year into the silent limbo of the past. Let it go, for it was imperfect, and thank God that it can go.
~ Brooks Atkinson
Though no one can go back and make a new beginning – anyone can start from now and make a brand new end.
~ Carl Brand
Learn to hold loosely all that is not eternal.
~ Agnes Maude Royden (1876-1956)
If Christ does not reign over the mundane events in our lives,
He does not reign at all.
~ Dr. Paul Tripp
You don’t need to see the way if you follow the one that is the Way.
Never undertake anything for which you wouldn’t have the courage to ask the blessing of heaven.
~ G. C. Lichtenberg
Don’t be afraid for tomorrow. God is already there.
~ Ethel Löfgren
The reason that most major goals are not achieved is that we spend our time doing second things first.
~ Robert J. McKain
let go of last year’s failures
look forward at our new start and thank God for a clean slate
fix our eyes on the eternal
let God handle our details – even the gritty ones
follow His lead and listen for His voice
remember to ask His blessing and expect His strength
release our worries
keep our priorities in line
fill our days with love and laughter despite our imperfections
May your 2009 be blessed.
