Still stuck – 7 pounds down since the beginning of February – and now it’s March… and can’t seem to move the needle. That photo was taken in the beginning of last month. Today was 143.8 – and the lowest I have been (a week ago) is 142 even. Now that is a big change from the 150 on New Year’s Day, but I’m determined not to let the weight start sneaking back up again.
Time to get honest: I have not been half as serious as I was in the beginning. I have chosen dessert – even if I didn’t go very far over my 1250 calories for the day. I have counted all the walking I was doing as my exercise and done a few sit-ups, rather than working out a solid thirty minutes and breaking a sweat.
SO…. I guess I have learned how to maintain at 7 pounds down, rather than forcing through the weight loss wall. It is going to take a sincere commitment to get any farther. It’s hard on that last fifteen pounds to decide they are worth giving up chocolate satin pie, no?
Anyone with me on this journey out there? Or am I the only one with my hand caught in the cookie jar, skipping salad for potatoes and fried chicken?
OK, so it’s harder than I thought. I’m older than I once was. Whatever the reason, I’m not giving up.
I’m going to get serious for the next 17 days and ACTUALLY do the 17 day diet. 17 days is EXACTLY how many days there are until the first day of Blissdom. I bet if I get on board, I can drop five pounds of those fifteen by the 21st of March.
I know the 17 Day Diet works because it has for me in the past (I was on it in 2011 and lost 10 lbs. in 12 days, and kept it off for at least 8 months)…
So if you are on My Fitness Pal with me, be sure to give me a swift kick in the butt if you see me sneaking cookies and not exercising daily. Just a little note via the chat box with a “How bad do you want it?” will suffice.
{ Seven down, five to go before the 21st. }
In Him,
Heather

I haven’t heard of the 17 day diet. I’ll have to check that out.

I have some friends who have found some really great success with the 17 day diet. I hope this works out well for you, and you sound very determined! 🙂

Not sure if you saw my comment the last time you posted about weight loss but I’m finding great success with weight lifting. If you haven’t already look into it as a way to lose body fat while increasing muscle and bone density. What is your fitness pal name?

I know how you feel Heather! I’ve been at the same weight for a few weeks, and I know that I’ll never meet my 10 year reunion goal at that rate. Obviously my occasional healthy eating and walking around the block isn’t doing it. I just started a Whole30 eating regimen, and I’m going to kick my own butt in the 2 week challenge. I am finally ready to do my part. I know you’ll do well too! Good luck!

Good luck with the kick start. I hope it compliments all the overall, sustainable steps you have been taking.

Don’t be discouraged. At least you have your “want to” and that’s like 80% of the battle right there. I’ve been saying for years I want to get serious and clean up my diet..but never found the inspiration. Since being diagnosed with Chronic fatigue over a year ago (symptoms at least a year prior to that). I’ve finally become fed up enought to do something drastic!! I came across the Whole30 a few days ago (9 to be exact)..and since I was tired of being tired, I jumped in cold turkey. I haven’t had any sugar, bread, pasta, dairy_ none of that for 8days. I didn’t get on the scale before I started, but based on the fact that this morning I could finally button my jeans without a struggle, I’d say it’s working. And I have more mental clarity than I’ve had in years. I used to be dog tired every second of the day and ALWAYS NEEDED A NAP by 2, but I’m starting to notice a difference, and haven’t so much as laid my head down in at least 3 days. Maybe give that sugar a holiday and see how you feel in a week. If it’s working, maybe that’ll give ya incentive for another. 🙂 Good job on the progress so far. You’ll find your groove. Keep up with the great eating habits. And thanks for sharing your journey. It gives me inspiration.

At least you are honest with yourself! Realization is the first step to getting things done. I’ve been a self-sabotager, for a while now. Just can’t seem to get back on the wagon, despite a daily attempt to try.
But you’ve got this! You’ve got a plan in place! Also, have you tried lifting weights? For me, that’s the only thing that has busted my plateaus.
